Lenten Regulations:

All Catholics 14 years of age and older are obliged to abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday,  Feb.  22,  and all Fridays of Lent.   Catholics  18 to 59 years of age are obliged to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday – a fast consisting of one normal meal and two lesser meals, with no eating in between.  It is also recommended that Catholics find opportunities throughout the Lenten season to complement their fasts with prayer, reception of the sacraments of reconciliation and the Eucharist,  and positive works of charity.

Confession:   The sacrament of reconciliation will once again be made available at most churches in the archdiocese from 6-7 PM every Wednesday of Lent.

Lenten Services at Sts. Peter and Paul Church:

1) Daily Mass except Communion Service on Mondays. (See events calendar)

2) Mass times for Ash Wednesday, Feb 22 :  are at 8 AM and 7 PM.

3) Everyone is invited to pray the CHAPLET OF THE DIVINE MERCY each Thursday during Lent,  at  7 PM,  in the church.   This devotion is based on the visions of the Polish nun and canonized saint Sr. Faustina Kawalska, known as the “Apostle of Mercy”.   The service consists of prayers said with the aid of a rosary.  Consider making this one of your Lenten observances.

4) Everyone is invited to join the SPPS students for STATIONS OF THE CROSS AND BENEDICTION  every Friday during Lent,  beginning this Friday, Feb 24th,  at  2 PM,  in the church.

                                           A PRAYER FOR LENT

Lord Jesus, we pray throughout the season of Lent that you will open our minds and stir our hearts to follow you more faithfull.   We know that you died for us when we were still sinners,  and we know we are sinners still.    But you have given us a longing to be the people you want us to be:   Faithfull,  hpe-filled and loving.   Help us to make the most of these forty days marked by fasting,  prayer and almsgiving so that we might draw nearer to you and give you greater glory.   Amen
